When Autopilot Takes the Helm.
Good morning, friends.
The Moment
Some mornings, I can move through familiar tasks without thinking much. My hands know what to do. That can be useful in a busy galley.
But what if I carry that same autopilot into the rest of the day.
I answer too quickly.
I follow an old habit.
I choose before I have really noticed I’m making one.
One Useful Thought
Autopilot helps us handle what is familiar.
The trouble begins when it starts choosing our responses for us.
Awareness does not require us to question every move.
It asks us to notice the moments that matter:
Am I choosing this, or am I simply repeating it?
That brief pause puts our hands back on the helm.
One Question Worth Carrying.
Where in my day am I most likely to let an old habit make the decision for me?
The One-Degree Turn
Choose one routine moment today: reaching for your phone, reacting to a frustration, or beginning a task you usually avoid.
Before you act, pause long enough to name what you are about to do. Then decide whether it still takes you where you want to go.
Notice before you navigate.
