Look at the Wake: Recognizing Personal Progress.

Good morning, friends.

The Moment

When I look out of my cabin porthole at the sky, it can seem as though the ship is standing still. The sky gives me little sense of our movement.

Then I look down at the water. I see it moving along the hull and the wake forming behind us. We have been travelling all along.

One Useful Thought

Progress can be difficult to see when we look only at the distance ahead. Sometimes the clearest evidence is behind us: a choice we handled differently, a habit we interrupted, or a promise we kept.

Those changes may be small, but they tell us we are moving.

One Question Worth Carrying.

What can I do differently now that I could not do a few months ago?

The One-Degree Turn

Write down one specific change you have made. Keep it somewhere you can see it when the journey feels slow.

The Weight of Life Experience.

Good morning, friends.

The Moment

I turned 60 a few days ago.

Looking back, I can see a long and winding road: the highs and lows, the choices I’m proud of, and the ones I wish I had made differently. Every stretch of it brought me here.

No one else has travelled this exact road. I learned the lessons I carry the most direct way I know: by living.

One Useful Thought

Experience gains value when we pay attention to what it has taught us. Even a wrong turn can help us recognize the next one sooner.

At 60, I don’t need to pretend I got everything right. I can take what I’ve learned and use it to choose my direction today.

One Question Worth Carrying.

What has your journey taught you that you can use now?

The One-Degree Turn

Think of one lesson you learned the hard way.

Write it in a sentence, then let it guide one choice you make today.

On the boat’s deck at 5:30 a.m. on my 60th birthday. I can’t see every turn that brought me here, but I carry what each one taught me.
