Let the Day End.
Good morning, friends.
The Moment
In the galley, preparing for tomorrow is part of today’s work. While I cook and serve today’s meals, I am already planning tomorrow’s. Before I leave for the evening, I need to decide what to prepare, take the meats out of the freezer to thaw, and make sure the other supplies I need are on board.
That rhythm can follow me back to my cabin. The galley is clean, the crew has been fed, and tomorrow’s preparations are in place, but I am still thinking about what needs doing.
My working day has ended. Sometimes, I need to remind myself that I can let it end.
One Useful Thought
There will always be something unfinished. A task waiting, a concern unresolved, or something we wish had gone differently.
If we wait until everything is settled before allowing ourselves to rest, we may keep moving the finish line.
We can take a lesson from today, make a small plan for tomorrow, and leave the rest alone for the night.
One Question Worth Carrying.
"What am I still carrying from today that can wait until tomorrow?"
The One-Degree Turn
Tonight, write down one thing that needs your attention tomorrow. Put it on paper so you don't have to keep rehearsing it in your mind.
Then tell yourself: "I have done enough for today."
Let the day end.
Fair winds,
