Morning Watch 003.

A lone sailor stands on the bridge of a cargo ship at sunrise, looking through binoculars toward the horizon. The calm morning sea and first light symbolize awareness, preparation, and intentional living, the beginning of the daily Morning Watch.

Turn Down the Tap.

Good morning, friends.

The Moment

Before each meal, I fill a sink in the dish pit with fresh soapy water so the crew can wash their plates before placing them in the rack for the sanitizer.

Lately, I’ve been turning the tap on full, moving to another task, and returning to find the sink overflowing. Three chances a day to get it right, and I kept repeating the same mistake.

Then I tried something small: I opened the tap halfway. The sink filled more slowly, giving me enough time to return and shut it off.

One Useful Thought

I had been trying to improve my timing without changing what made the timing difficult. Slowing the water changed the task.

A recurring inconvenience is worth a closer look. Sometimes one small adjustment makes the whole routine easier.

One Question Worth Carrying.

What small frustration keeps repeating in your day, and what could you adjust before it happens again?

The One-Degree Turn

Choose one routine that regularly causes a problem. Change one part of it today, then notice what happens.

One degree can make a difference, even at the kitchen sink.
