Morning Watch 022.

Active Awareness: Notice and Choose Your Response.
Good morning, friends.
The Moment
Sometimes I hear the impatience in my own voice while I am still speaking.
In that moment, I recognize two things:
I feel impatient,
and that feeling is shaping how I treat someone.
I have an opportunity to pause, soften my tone, or listen before saying anything else.
That small moment captures what we call Active Awareness at Boarding Pass 365.
One Useful Thought
Active Awareness is the practice of noticing what is happening within us and around us, recognizing its influence, and using that understanding to choose our next response with intention.
We notice the feeling and consider what to do with it.
We recognize an assumption and question whether it fits the facts.
We see a familiar reaction beginning and look for another way forward.
Our Internal Checkpoint gives this practice a simple direction:
Notice.
Pause.
Question.
Choose.
Sometimes we notice only after a moment has passed. We can still learn from it and prepare for the next opportunity.
Awareness helps us see.
Active Awareness helps us to choose how to respond.
One Question Worth Carrying.
"What am I noticing within myself right now, and how could that understanding guide my next action?"
The One-Degree Turn
Today, when you notice a strong feeling or familiar reaction, pause before you speak or act.
Ask yourself:
What is happening around me?
What am I bringing to this moment?
How do I want to respond?
Choose one small action that reflects the person you want to become.
Fair winds,
Chef Martin
